Zbigniew Kołaciński - Polish scientist working in the discipline of electrical engineering and specializing in environmental engineering and protection, plasma technology and nanotechnology.

For many years, he has led the work of an interdepartmental group of scientists related to the development of manufacturing technologies and the synthesis of new materials with unique properties. In 1979-80 he worked abroad as a research fellow at the Technical University of Eindhoven (plasma physics) and in 1988-94 as an academic visitor at the University of Strathclyde, where he conducted research work in the field of plasma technology while being the supervisor of his doctoral and master's thesis. He was a lecturer at several Chinese universities and scientific research institutes: Xi'an Jiaotong University (1986, 1988), Tianjin University of Technology (1988) and Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute (1988).

He is the author of the book Thermodynamics of short arc plasma, which was published in English and Chinese.

He worked for many years in the Department of Electrical Apparatuses at the Technical University of Lodz. In 2010, he began working as a full professor at the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems at the Technical University of Lodz.

For his research work, he obtained funding from the European Community as early as the 1980s. He was coordinator on the Polish side of the TEMPUS project JEP 1785/91 (1991-95). In 2001-2004 he was the first European coordinator of European Union research projects in Poland: EU WASTILE GRD1-2000-25038, EU NAS-WASTILE GRD3-2001-60008 and EU ILE IMS-2001-00020. Since 2000, he has participated in the implementation of 15 research projects. He is the author or co-author of about 280 articles presented at conferences and published in scientific journals. He is a reviewer and technical auditor of integrated nanotechnology projects for the Directorate General for Research European Commission.
